Full Version: His Name Was Jason
HHNvault Forum > General > Horror Movies

I was always a fan of Halloween's 25 Years of Terror documentary, something about a classics horror documentary was very interesting to watch, with hopes from myself still held towards seeing The Shark is Still Working. Nonetheless, the 30 years of F13th documentary is on its way...

Anyone else looking forward to this besides myself?

Release: Feb. 3rd

Hosted by special effects master Tom Savini, and with more than 80 interviews - including every Jason and the "Final Girls" who survived him - and clips from the films, His Name was Jason examines how the legend of Jason Voorhees has evolved from a ghost story that oversexed camp counselors tell around the bonfire into a full-blown Hollywood institution. The film was directed by Daniel Farrands and produced by Anthony Masi and MasiMedia.

Yes I am looking forward to this, but not as much as I am to the new edition DVDs that are supposed to finally include much missing footage. Hopefully we will finally see the footage from F13 part two restored - especially the double impalement that I have been waiting for since first seeing stills in Fangoria 27 years ago.

Ah yes, I heard about this a while ago, I'll definetly be picking this up smile.gif

Can we say a Nightmare on Elm Street 25th Anniversary documentary next year? smile.gif

I can't wait to pick this up. There is always so much that goes into a Friday movie, so I'm sure this will be filled with alot.

can we say...

retrospective of entires series doesnt mean shit! its STILL F13 related. Again no need for a new thread... anything related to F13 can go into the F13 remake thread instead of creating new ones

There is....

a current thread: Click here

A trailer thread: Click here

a locked thread: Click here

a question thread: Click here

"GENERAL" F13/TCM/NOES thread: Click here

and of course THIS thread

so yea... like I said, totally not needed. You children need to stop spamming the boards everytime something new appears. There is a reason why the more faithful members (as in those here PRE-2006) are rarely seen & not because of the "off season".

So we'd also have to fill up a popular remake thread with a post that some people might not catch, here's an idea if you don't like something and are going to bitch about it, keep it to yourself because quite frankly it isn't benefiting anyone and it's pointless arguments that drive people away. It's a horror board, and there will be a few threads about some of the greatest horror icons of our generation whether you like it or not, that's like asking a Harry Potter board to limit every post on each book to a corrosponding existing topic.

Not to mention I'd hardly call a thread with half a dozen posts a "general" discussion.

Coming from a "faithful" member who has been banned before I find that incredibly ironic, rolleyes.gif

Ok, I'll start off by saying this section of the forum is for movies. It is specified that they want only one individual thread for each movie. This is a separate film from the rest of the F13 films, a documentary. I see no need to scramble mixed information on two separate films within one thread. It isn't hurting anyone, and it keeps things better organized and easy to find. I did not make the other threads for the trailer, poster, etc. But when I make a new movie topic I am well aware when titling it plus making only a single thread or using a previous one.

Having been a mod on numerous forums and understanding the search system as well as spamming members, this thread is perfectly fine how it is and is causing no problems.

If you want to be Mr. Mod and keep the board clean of useless threads, then in your free days on season report the stupid threads in the HHN 19 section that are created every day a new facade or update to the website is made.

This thread is basically equivalent to creating a thread for the Jaws documentary, "The Shark Is Still Working" or the Halloween documentary "25 Years of Terror". This thread is easily notified within a forum as it is the title of the documentary and a completely separate entity from the remake. So let it be...

Once more this is not related to the other F13 films and there is no thread for it in existence or about it in existence. If you care to disagree with me, please ask a mod to speak to you about it, or to try to speak to myself about it because I am fairly sure on this argument myself and Jo are correct.

QUOTE
To help create easier navigation throughout the “Horror Movies” forum, we ask that you refrain from making more than one topic per film. ALL newly created topics MUST be titled accordingly to that film. I.e., Creating a new topic for “An American Werewolf in London” you must name the topic “An American Werewolf in London.” If the film is, or has, a remake of the same name, we ask that you either specify “[Original]” or “[Remake]” next to the title. If your post is in regards to rumors or developments on unconfirmed films, please take advantage of the “Movie Rumors” topic, and insure that all related posts go into the topic accordingly. Thanks for keeping the forums clean, and I’ll see you in the vault

The above guidelines say nothing about having to combine films that pertain to the same series, therefore each film is a separate entity that can hold its own thread. Making it easier for people interested in ONLY that film to find information on ONLY that film.

Hope that cleared things up a bit for ya...

I kind of disagree, I mean seriously why start a thread just for this?? There will be about three more replies before it is forever forgotten, saying either: "Oh I love the series I'm so buying it" or "This sucks, I'll never purchase it". Since my point of view, this thread is a waste theres no room for a discussion, it could have easily fitted in with the remake thread. But it's like you said, there's nothing wrong with starting it he's not breaking any rule or spamming, for me it's a waste. But waste or not that's no reason for a reply like the one from that other guy.

Ok now lets analyze your statement. You say the thread is going to hold statements such as "Oh I like the series" and then die out. How does that compare to any other film. Some movie threads get a few posts about then just get pushed away. Like I said, the point of the movie thread is so that if someone wants to speak about a movie they can also look back and talk about it. Say someone watches this documentary in a few months from its release. Do you honestly think they're going to know its discussion will take place in the F13 remake thread, a new one would obviously be remade. Then if it was combined with the remake thread, members who think their mods would bust in with statements ridiculing members for just not knowing. Its a never ending process. Members do something. Than someone who feels their seniority gives them the right to look down at other members with negative sarcasm. In the words of Terra Phantoms first post...

Can we say...

Only helping the problem grow.

Like I said, this thread is completely within guidelines so it is pointless to argue. I mean, is this thread physically hurting you. When you click recent posts does seeing that extra-half inch bother you? Just let it be because it serves a purpose of keeping this separate films talk within a new thread. If you want to go knock out useless threads, look back in this section of the forum for all the numerous threads for a single movie and report those.

Once again, like I said this thread is not a waste. And just because your not interested in this doesn't mean others aren't, and they will have a much easier time learning about this documentary through this thread than one containing tons of posts inbetween about a F13 remake.

Now if any of you "Vault Veterans" knew better, you'd be as kind to have originally carried this complaint through PM with myself (The original topic creator) or an actual mod of the vault. Otherwise you are all as bad as the n00bs that you have claimed are killing this site. Just because some of you have been here longer, including myself, doesn't make us any better than some of the newer members, and complaining about things like this (within guidelines) will only help to prove my point. In other words, if your looking to ridicule people for pointless posts and for ruining the Vault, you have picked the wrong thread. This argument has already half ruined this thread and hopefully will end with this post.

I'm sick of people who have been here since 2005-2006 saying that new members and stupid posts are the only thing taking over the Vault. There are some arguments between some of the elder members and members who just think they have the right to look down on these new members that are supporting the very cause your mentioning.

Any further communication about the purpose of this thread, from ANY member, please carry it in a PM with myself or take it up with a mod. And this is not me trying to be Mr. Mod, this is me explaining how a good member who cares about the forum would react.

I'm making this post public as a call out to all those people who are talking about how certain members are killing the Vault and feel they need to point it out. Because honestly, I'm getting tired of hearing it from many of you.

Ok don't get all Terra-Phantom on me cause I think you're better than that, all I wanted to say is that I think it's pointless (keyword= I) because the topic itself leaves no room for an argument or a debate or an actual discussion. I'm not bashing because you started it, I'm only saying I don't think it will have much life because of the topic itself. Like you said you're not breaking any guidelines by starting it and I'm not complaining because of that!! In fact, I'm not complaining at all!! I wanted to state that this could have easily fitted in the remake thread, but if you don't think so then it's fine!! I'm not starting a fight because of it.

Only the first paragraph of my essay was directed towards you lol. I don't mean to come of rude as I am not like that, I'm just trying to show people what I pointed out in the rest of my earlier post as it is becoming annoying dealing with people talking about the Vaults newer members negative effect on the Vault when that is far from the only reason certain "elder" members have stopped posting at these forums. The Vault is a great place, best HHN information of the web, and the forums are helpful. But like any forum on the internet, we know what comes with it (stupidity and problems between members). It can't be rid of at any web forum, so unless people would like to see the forums removed completely, I'd suggest people suck it up and continue to make supportive posts. Vault mods will do their best I'm sure to keep the site updated and clean, and no matter how devoted the staff members are to this site they do have lives and no one can devote all their time to properly cleaning up every thread here.

This looks really interesting. Anyone here ever read the book "Crystal Lake Memories"? It's the same thing, but in book form.

On another note, if you live in the Los Angeles area, Starz is giving you a chance to see the Friday the 13th documentary His Name Was Jason on the big screen. A special sneak preview will play at the New Beverly (7165 West Beverly Blvd.) January 30th at midnight before hitting DVD on February 3rd. Special guests are expected. See ya there!

Looks like some can see this early, and maybe get a few autographs signed in the process.
Nightcrawler
Even though I've only seen 4 of the movies including 'Freddy Vs. Jason,' I'll probably need to rent this, for at least a couple reasons:
1. I think I heard they talk about the HHN 'Camp Blood' house.
2. I heard that it also includes an interview with one of my all- time favorite Internet personalities to watch: James Rolfe, aka the Angry Video Game Nerd.

This comes on this friday one some movie channel late at night I think. If I get it, then I'll watch it.

For anyone looking to check it out and have premium channels then do a search for it(I can't remember what channel)
